For many years, Truetone has made musicians’ lives easier with the 1 SPOT, the original compact pedalboard power supply. It works so well that a lot of musicians never felt the need to get one of those brick-style power supplies, and we here at Truetone didn’t see the need for those either, even though they were quite popular. Bob Weil, founder of Truetone, explains:

“A lot of people over the years had told us that we should make a power brick. Even some of my own staff urged me to do it, but I didn’t want to for two reasons. First, I knew the 1 SPOT could power just about every pedal out there, so I didn’t see the need. Second, I didn’t want to make just another knock-off of someone else’s power brick. If we were going to make one, we were going to do it our way and have features that nobody else could offer. As pedal designs changed and it became more common for digital pedals to require isolation and for others to need something other than 9Vdc, I finally saw a reason for us to design a power brick.”

“It took 3 years and lots of experimentation, but we were finally able to design a 1 SPOT Pro, using our own proprietary technology to give musicians all the features they need for today’s pedalboards. The original 1 SPOT still works great for most musicians, but for those who need more power and versatility, the 1 SPOT Pro fills the need perfectly.”

DUAL TAP DELAY  with modulation

Dual Tap Delay is one of Guitar World’s Top 10 Pedals.  The Truetone (formerly Visual Sound) Dual Tap Delay gives you two separate channels which can be used independently or together, synchronized with a single tap-tempo switch. The two channels are identical, but with the second channel also having a Modulation control to add a Chorus effect to the repeats. Max delay time is one second for each channel.

Each channel can be used in either Manual or Tap modes, with controls for Manual Delay Time (in Manual mode), Repeats, Effect Level, and Tone, as well as Time Divisions for Tap mode.  There are also two internal switches. One switch controls whether Output 2 is effected or dry, while the other switch sets repeats to be either trailing or non-trailing for Channel 2 after the effect is turned off.

The Dual Tap Delay is designed to be used without the need to read a manual… a refreshing change from most modern delay pedals. The sounds from the pedal are immediately gratifying, even on first use. Although it’s common to just let DSP do all the tone shaping in a delay, Truetone (formerly Visual Sound) uses a lot of analog circuitry to create the warm feel of the Dual Tap Delay. Most companies don’t do that because it costs more and is more complicated, but we thought you would appreciate the better sound that this method produces.

H2O Stereo Chorus / Analog Echo

The V3 H2O is more than a mere re-boot of one of the finest dual pedals of all time; it is a carefully thought out complete redesign. It has all the classic tones from its storied past, yet the capability to give the user the otherworldly tones of what is yet to come. To make the V3 H2O more pedal board friendly and rugged, the housing and footswitches have been updated. To give the chorus circuit more versatility, knobs for chorus/vibrato, and tone, along with switches for detune have been added. The Echo keeps its stellar warmth, yet now has the trance inducing ability to go into controlled oscillation. The V3 H2O is truly the finest echo and analog modulation pedal available.

– Analog voiced Echo channel

– Extremely versatile fully analog Stereo Chorus capable of true pitch vibrato

– Light, lush, Leslie, or pulsating out-of-this-world effects

– Pure Tone buffer on/off and separate Input and Output for each channel

– Change order of effects, patch in a loop, or use a switching system

– Reliable and silent True Bypass switching with the custom designed Forever Footswitch™ rated for 10 million hits.

V3 Series common attributes:

• Each channel can be set to either True Bypass mode or buffered, via internal switches. The buffered mode utilizes Truetone (formerly Visual Sound)’s Pure Tone circuit.
• Features the custom designed Forever Footswitch rated for 10 million hits. This interacts with relays having gold-plated contacts.
• Lifetime Warranty… even for second or third owners.
• Separate inputs and outputs so each side of the pedal can be used in a loop device, or midi switcher. Also possible to reverse the order of effects with a patch cable. Just like having 2 pedals, but in 1 housing.

Jekyll & Hyde Overdrive Distortion

This is my favourite pedal.
Visual Sound is now TRUETONE, and the new V3 Series Jekyll & Hyde has been re-designed from scratch by Weil and RG Keen to meet the demands of today’s players.  With more flexibility, more great tones, and better construction than any of its predecessors, you’re going to love this new incarnation of a historically great pedal.
The distortion channel (a.k.a. "Hyde") is the same great distortion that Hyde was always known for, but with 2 major upgrades.  It now includes a Bass knob which interacts with Treble so you can shape your tone precisely.  There is also a new Voice switch which allows you to choose between classic open distortion or a more saturated tone.
The overdrive channel (a.k.a. "Jekyll") has changed completely, making it even more compatible with Hyde. Jekyll is now based on our old Open Road pedal, but with added Bass and Clean Mix knobs.

• Each channel can be set to either True Bypass mode or buffered, via internal switches. The buffered mode utilizes our legendary Pure Tone circuit.
• Features the custom designed Forever Footswitch rated for 10 million hits. This interacts with relays having gold-plated contacts.
• Lifetime Warranty... even for second or third owners.
• Separate inputs and outputs so each side of the pedal can be used in a loop device, or midi switcher. Also possible to reverse the order of effects with a patch cable. Just like having 2 pedals, but in 1 housing.
• Small, pedal board friendly size, with front mounted jacks. Smaller footprint than 2 MXR or similar sized pedals.
• Comes in a black velvet bag inside the package box.

OIL CAN PHASER

The GarageTone “Oil Can” Phaser from Truetone (formerly Visual Sound) is a classic sounding analog phaser. With both Speed and Depth knobs, the Oil Can Phaser has a wide variety of warm analog tones, from swooshing to pulsating. Placed before distortion or overdrive, the Oil Can is perfect for classic or modern rock, funk and more. On its own, the GarageTone Oil Can Phaser gives warmth and movement to textured rhythm parts.

Bob Weil says that one of the guys in the office brought in an old “Electra” phaser from the mid 70’s which sounded better than anything else they tried.

They did some research on it and found out that it was actually made by Electro Harmonix for the Electra Guitar Company around 1975-76 and was in fact a re-housed Small Stone. They compared it to a Small Stone and it didn’t sound anything like it… the old one sounded infinitely better.

The reason why E-H changed the circuit over the years is that the main chips used in the old version haven’t been made for decades. Undaunted by that inconvenient fact, Bob gave the old circuit to their chief engineer, R.G. Keen, and he asked him to figure out a way to use some equivalent chips to work in a similar circuit to re-create the sound of the Electra pedal. It was a tall order, but he figured it out and after a few tweaks, they had the Garagetone Oil Can Phaser and yes, it sounds just like that old Electra Phaser from the 70’s.

VS - XO Premium Dual Overdrive

The right channel has pronounced mids without being honky. In addition to Drive, Tone, and Volume knobs, it also has a 3-way Clipping (diodes) switch, a 3-way Bass switch, and a Clean Mix knob. The left channel also has Drive, Tone and Volume knobs, along with a Bass knob, but with flat mids, making it sound very amp-like. The VS-XO is a tone-experimenter’s dream pedal. The sound options are nearly endless.

On top of that, the VS-XO is the first Truetone (formerly Visual Sound) pedal to incorporate True-Bypass, but done our way. Bob Weil invented foot-switches which look traditional, but interact with gold-plated relays, and will last forever. RG Keen invented a circuit to keep them quiet. You also have the choice of internally switching the Pure Tone buffer on or off with each channel.

If you use a switching system or want to change the order of effects, no problem… separate Ins and Outs allow for that. If you just want to plug one cable in and one out normally, you can do that too. And since we didn’t skimp on anything having to do with reliability, the VS-XO is covered by the Truetone Lifetime Warranty.
